JAKARTA - Fort Kuto Besak (BKB) was revitalized by the Palembang City Government, South Sumatra to increase tourism and beautify the city's face.
Acting (Plt) Head of the Palembang City Tourism Office, M Irman, in Palembang, Sunday, said this to attract tourists more to visit the oldest city in Indonesia.
He added that the revitalization is targeted to be completed by early 2026.
"The new face of the BKB area will be transformed into a giant square and tourist attractions," he said.
He added that all major activities will also be held there. The appearance of the BKB area, which in recent times has been difficult to clean from street vendors, will attract more attention from tourists.

"As a gift for Palembang City, I will provide the revitalization of BKB," said Herman Deru.
In addition to the revitalization of the BKB, the South Sumatra Provincial Government will also revitalize the fountain and as many as 16 major roads in the city.
"Technically it will be done by the Palembang City Government, Ratu Dewa as mayor," he said.
