JAKARTA - Actress Acha Septriasa is confirmed to be playing the central character, Fitri, in the legendary horror remake film from Malaysia, "Munafik".
Known for the iconic possession scene, Acha admitted that he was very honored to be part of this big project and called it a legacy he wanted to continue.
In the film's press conference, Acha told how the offer for the role came as a special surprise. He was contacted directly while in Sydney around September, which coincided with his birth month.
"This is a birthday gift for me actually. I got a direct call to Sydney, and was asked to play in the film 'Munafik'," he recalled in the Central Jakarta area, Wednesday, October 29.
Acha explained that Fitri's role has a very sacred position in the story "Munafik", because it is from this character that the legendary possession scene comes from. He also feels proud to be trusted to revive the icon in the Indonesian version.
"As a player from Indonesia, I am very honored to be able to get this opportunity," he said.
One of the main factors that attracted him was how the script for this film was fully adapted to the Indonesian market. Under the direction of director Guntur Suharyanto, all background stories are changed to make it feel more distinctive and closer to local audiences.
"When I was told that the background was all changed to Indonesian characteristics, and also Mr. Guntur Suharyanto also explained in sequence how the renewal process from the script was made more Indonesia once," explained Acha.
"God willing, I will continue this legacy from Malaysia," he added.
When asked about the challenges in this role, Acha revealed that the Indonesian version will present a more intense action scene. The iconic scene creeping on the wall is certain to remain, but will be enriched with more fighting scenes.
"The most challenging thing is that the Fitri scene here is the action is incredible, it really doesn't get rid of the icon from how it creeps on that wall," he said.
