Received Amnesty, Steve Emmanuel Declared Free After 6 Years In Prison

JAKARTA - Actor Steve Emmanuel finally breathed free air after serving his sentence for the cocaine possession case that ensnared him since 2018. He is known to have been released since August 2025.

This news was confirmed by the Head of Sub-Directorate for Cooperation of the Directorate General of Corrections, Rika Aprianti, who confirmed that Steve Emmanuel left the prison after being eligible for amnesty.

"(Steve Emmanuel has been free since August, from August," said Rika Aprianti in the Central Jakarta area, Thursday, October 16.

Rika explained that Steve's release was part of an amnesty policy given to inmates who met certain requirements.

"Yes, amnesty is not only given to Steve Emmanuel, but is also given to all inmates who meet the requirements to get amnesty. So everyone, not only Steve Emmanuel," he explained.

He added that the decision to grant amnesty did not come from the correctional institution, but from a higher authority. The prison is only tasked with carrying out the decision.

"And indeed the amnesty decision is not with us, we are only implementing it. There is an amnesty decision, so in prisons we also execute or carry out the results of the amnesty decision," concluded Rika.

For information, Steve Emmanuel was arrested by the West Jakarta Police Narcotics Unit Team in the Mampang Prapatan area, South Jakarta, on December 21, 2018. During the arrest, the police found a cocaine suction device and a bottle of cocaine weighing 92.04 grams.

The actor, who was once popular in the 2000s era, then languished in the Salemba Rutan, Central Jakarta, during the legal process.

In a trial at the West Jakarta District Court in 2019, the Public Prosecutor charged Steve with Article 112 paragraph (2) and Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

The prosecutor demanded 13 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, but the panel of judges sentenced him to 9 years in prison. Meanwhile, the legal counsel had asked Steve to be rehabilitated.

Previously, Steve Emmanuel's freedom became a public conversation because he was seen attending his sister Karenina Sunny's wedding blessing ceremony on October 10.
