JAKARTA - A hotel entrepreneur in Poland has a unique way to help overcome the country's birth crisis. He offers free gifts and parties for hotel guests who manage to get pregnant after staying at his property.

WWiadysnaw Grochowski, owner of a large hotel chain and property developer called Arche Group, announced a program that attracted quite public attention.

He promised to hold a free family party, such as a Chamber party, for every couple who were confirmed pregnant after staying at one of Arche's 23 hotels.

"Every couple who manages to contain during their stay at one of the 23 Arche hotels will receive free family celebrations, such asulancing, in one of our event rooms or restaurants," Grochowski said in an interview with the money.pl financial site, quoted from the CNN page.

Not only that, for customers or employees who buy property from Arche and have children in the next five years, Grochowski will also provide cash bonuses of 10 thousand Zloty Poland or around Rp45 million.

Grochowski explained that several of his hotels have churches that have been renovated and can be used for weddings ormensing. In other locations, there is a garden where trees will be planted for every baby born from this program.

"Parents of the first child born through this program will also receive baby trains and special welcome packages," he added.

This program is not just a promotion of hotels, but also a form of concern for Polish demographic conditions. The country is now facing a fairly worrying decline in birth rates.

According to Eurostat data, in 2023 the birth rate in Poland was only 1.2 children per girl, down from 1.33 in 2021 and far below 2.06 in 1990.

Grochowski said the business world should not only focus on profit, but also help solve social problems.

"Companies should be more involved in social issues, including helping to overcome the negative demographic trend in our country," he said.

"In 2026, Poland will spend nearly 5% of its GDP on defense, but what's the point of demographics making us extinct?" he added.

Arche Group itself is not a new player in the property business world. Established since the early 1990s, the company has more than 4,000 hotel rooms, 27 restaurants, and has built more than 10,000 apartment units.

Apart from being active in business, Grochowski and his wife, Lena, also founded the Lena Grochowska Foundation in 2014. The foundation focuses on humanitarian activities, including helping Ukrainian refugees fleeing to Poland since the war broke out in 2022.

For their dedication, the couple received the UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award in 2023 from the United Nations (UN).

I was never interested in just making money. I always want to be useful and get involved in something. I work with emotion. Grochowski explained in an interview on the UNHCR official website.
