Jakarta Full Of Color: Celebration Of Art, Culture, And Sports Towards 500 Years Of Capital City

JAKARTA - Art and cultural events have always been a magnet that enriches the face of big cities, including Jakarta. From musical performances, dances, to creative exhibitions, this kind of activity is not only entertainment, but also a space for togetherness for residents to celebrate the identity of the city.

This kind of momentum is increasingly important ahead of the 500th anniversary of Jakarta, where art and culture are expected to become a bridge between the past, the present, and the future.

In order to welcome this historic moment, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will present a series of arts and cultural activities entitled 'Jakarta Full of Color' which will be held regularly during Motor Vehicle Free Day (HBKB) at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, Central Jakarta.

"We have prepared October. We have prepared it in November. December we will prepare it. Because this is approaching 500 years," said Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Rano Karno in Jakarta, as quoted by ANTARA.

In 2027, Jakarta was even five centuries old. "We celebrate with a culture combined with various other things," he said.

Rano estimates that the peak celebration will suck up up up to one million visitors. Meanwhile, this September event was held with the theme "Keep Jakarta Full of Color" as an invitation to protect the city as a joint house that must be treated.

This activity is also coupled with the commemoration of National Sports Day. The combination of art and sports is displayed through various performances that are not only competition, but also entertainment. "Here we show that exercise is not just competition, but can be a medium of art expression to entertain the public," he said.

Furthermore, Rano mentioned how the spirit of community collaboration was increasingly felt after the anarchist demonstration some time ago. Residents from various backgrounds are actively involved in maintaining and improving city public facilities.

"We are painting stops. We invite all high school/vocational school children. If the governor says 'this proves that the people of Jakarta are strong'. The people care together," he said.

This year's 'Keep Jakarta Full of Color' event was also enlivened by the appearance of 5,000 zumba participants from six Jakarta administrative areas guided by KORMI (Indonesian Community Recreation Sports Committee). In addition, there was also a flash mob performance out of 500 participants assisted by the DKI Cultural Service, as well as musical performances from the Jakarta Community Development Social Institution and the Batin Light Speech Rungu together with the Social Institution Bina Daksa Budi Bakti 1 assisted by the DKI Jakarta Social Service.
