Let's Edendra To Mark Ruffalo, Hollywood Actors Announce Boycott Of Israel's Film Institute

JAKARTA - A series of Hollywood actors signed a petition to boycott cooperation with Film Institutions from Israel and companies that perpetuate genocide against Palestinians.

Tuesday, September 9, Film Workers for Palestine announced 1300 film filmmakers ranging from actors, directors, and professionals signing the petition.

Olivia Colman, Ayo Edendari, Mark Ruffalo, Riz Ahmed, Tilda Swinton, Javier Bardem, Josh O'Connor, Emma Stone, Ava DuVernay, Cynthia Nixon are several actors who were revealed to have signed.

Several directors such as Yoorgos Lanthimos, Emma Seligman, Hannah Einbinder, Adam McKay, Joshua Oppenheimer, and others also participated in boycotts.

"As filmmakers, film and industrial industry workers, we recognize the power of cinema to shape a point of view. In a crisis moment, where many of our governments support the massacre in Gaza, we must do everything we can to overcome the involvement in the relentless horror," reads a statement from the Film Workers for Palestine.

The world's highest Court, the International Court of Justice, has ruled that there is a risk of genocide that makes sense in Gaza, and that Israel's occupation and apparatus against Palestine violates the law. Fighting for equality, justice, and freedom for all is a deep moral obligation that no one can ignore, "he said.

The Israeli Producers Association responded to the boycott by calling the people who signed the wrong person.

Those who signed this petition targeted the wrong person. We work with Palestinian creators, share stories and promote peace. This boycott call is wrong. By targeting us, the creators who voted for different narratives and dialogues, "said the Israeli Producers Association.
