Officially Launches JMFW 2026, Minister Of Trade Busan: Inaugurate The Kiblat Of The Future Modest Fashion Trend

JAKARTA - Minister of Trade Budi Santoso launched the 2026 Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) fashion modest event, Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Balai Kartini, Jakarta. This launch marks the start of a series of global competitive national fashion ecosystem development activities. According to the Minister of Trade Busan, JMFW aims to present a future modest fashion trend as well as build a strong and integrated national fashion ecosystem.

We want to present a future modest fashion trend through JMFW so that it can become a world modest fashion qibla by building the fashion ecosystem needed in realizing this vision. If we already know the trend, people will be more interested in using it. That way, our textile industry is developing, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are growing, and people's purchasing power is increasing," said the Minister of Trade Busan.

The peak of the JMFW 2026 event will be held on November 6 9 2025 at Kartika Expo Balai Kartini, Jakarta. The series of activities at the peak of the event will include 12 fashion parades, trade shows, talk shows, business matching, to award shows. There will be more than 100 designers, more than 1,000 brand collections, and targeting 8,000 visitors during the four-day activity.

JMFW 2026 has the theme Essential Lab. That is, JMFW 2026 is a fashion laboratory in determining the direction of Indonesian modest fashion. It is appropriate for a medical laboratory that becomes a reference for determining health conditions, JMFW functions as a fashion laboratory to map the direction of future dress style," said the Minister of Trade Busan.

The Minister of Trade Busan explained that the main difference between JMFW 2026 lies in the location of the implementation and the theme being carried out. "Besides the place, our focus is to build an ecosystem. So, if the ecosystem is already running, everything can move," said the Minister of Trade Busan.

The State of the Global Islamic Economy (SGIE) Report 2024/2025 noted that Indonesia was ranked first in the modest fashion sector ahead of Malaysia, Italy, Turkey, and Singapore. This achievement is a significant change because in the previous period (2023/2024) Indonesia was ranked third.

This achievement is not only based on economic volume, but also aspects of awareness (awareness). Indonesia is considered superior in the creation of a national modest fashion ecosystem which includes regulations, government facilitation of entrepreneurs, the existence of several large-scale modest fashion activities, as well as many Indonesian entrepreneurs who take part in international fashion events.

Minister of Trade Busan added that JMFW 2026 can expand connectivity between fashion MSME players and the global market through a business matching scheme facilitated by Indonesian trade representatives (perwadag) abroad.

"The Ministry of Trade has 46 perwadag in 33 countries tasked with selling Indonesian products, including fashion products. We have a business matching program that has so far facilitated approximately 800 MSMEs with total transaction potential reaching USD 90.04 million," said the Minister of Trade Busan.

The launch of JMFW 2026 was attended by ambassadors from friendly countries to Indonesia, including the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Abdulla Salem Aldhaheri, Pakistani Ambassador Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, Deputy Chairperson of the Export Development Division of KADIN Juan Permata Adoe, as well as representatives from ministries, institutions, associations, business actors, designers, and the fashion community.
