YOGYAKARTA - Yogyakarta has again become an important stage for the development of the art of contemporary Indonesian performances. For the full seven days, from July 25 to 31, 2025, the Festival of Shows Has Not-Already/Not-Yet Performance Festival (FPB-S/N-YPF) is present as a meeting forum for artists, academics, researchers, and spectators in exploring possible unfinished art.
Held by the Garasi Performance Institute (GPI), this festival not only presents performances, but also forms discussion, reflection, and joint documentation spaces. Carrying the theme Wild League', the first edition of FPB-S/N-YPF focuses on performing arts practices that depart from historical, archival, social norms, artistic conventions, identity tensions, and certain power scenarios.
The curator duo of this event, Mega Nur and Taufik Darwis said, "In this festival, the audience is not positioned passively but invited to be actively involved: look closely, search, navigate, and discuss the liversity' forms that grow from intersections and branching experiences and knowledge."
Nine works were recorded in six different locations in Yogyakarta. One of them is the One Who Doesn't Want to Be Bribe by Studio Malya, Reza Kutjh, and Rifki Akbar Pratama who invited the audience to experience narratives at the Fort Vredeburg Museum. There is also the Speech Speech by Putu Alit Panca & Taman Kata which adapts the work of Speech Bitter Entertainment from the British group, turning on the recognition room for anonymity of the history of violence and collective trauma.
Another work, the Heritage Garden by Rachmat Mustam & Studio Patodingi from Makassar, brought the audience into a narrative about traces of the Darul Islam / TII conflict and myths that are intertwined in the body and local history. On the other hand, Enji Sekar's Autolysis has made the body's biochemical process a form of a choreography metaphor that occurs in a dark space full of sensory nuances.
No less striking, the Attachment of Cyclofemmes by Ishvara Devi reinterpreted the character Mak Lampir within the framework of the transpuan experience and aesthetic quencher, while The Other Half: After-Forced from Puri Senja dived into body relations and military heritage.
In closing, 24 Hours Lembulana in Jogja presents a collective experience without a break for a full day. This event brings together various performances, ritualistic practices, to the form of art guerrillas based on Madura's method of intervening in space and time.
In addition to the show, the 2025 FPB-S/N-YPF also presented ten oversight sessions titled Kopi Pagi Dramaturgi. This simposium is a reflection and recording room, starting from reading the curatorial to in-depth discussions of each of the works displayed. The format is not rigid, it resembles open chat across roles and generations.
The artistic Ko-director conveyed his message at the opening of this festival on Friday, July 25. Eka Wahyuni'stur, 'Many networks are running together for this festival. With this festival, we can also look at how we live now and in the future.'
Eka Putra Nggalu added via text message briefly because he could not be present in person at the opening. His message, This festival is a broad and large network and work. FPB-S/N-YPF is a good potential to share resources but also slowly build solidarity and solidarity. The so-called solidarity, may sound abstract. But through meetings, work together, and this exchange we have an ideal picture of the real form of solidarity. It is also important that we strive to build an ecosystem that takes care of each other and takes care of each other. And it is an effort that continues to be possessed and grown in every work because in the current situation, this is what we need the most.
