Ersya Aurelia Voices Women's Rights Through The Film Kampung Jabang Mayit

JAKARTA - Actress Ersya Aurelia is the main character in the latest film Wisnu Surya Pratama, Kampung Jabang Mayit. This film is adapted from the horror story by Qwertyping and Prasodjo Muhammad.

Ersya plays Weda, a model who is pregnant outside of marriage. Then, he was invited by his girlfriend, Bagas (played by Bukie B. Mansyur) to visit his hometown and undergo a number of rituals.

"I think maybe the development of his character is interesting because throughout the film, we see from the beginning that Weda has not been able to dare to make her own choices until she opens her eyes and is forced to make decisions that change her 100%," said Ersya Aurelia about her character at a press conference in Central Jakarta on Monday, July 21.

He also considers him to be a shared character of Weda because he feels that the development of Weda's character is one of the important points of this film.

"When I played Weda, I took a lot of lessons because I felt like I grew up with Weda and after this film I learned that women have the right to have their own choices. The courage to make that decision," said Ersya Aurelia.

In addition, Ersya also felt that the interaction between Weda and Bagas was also a lesson for the audience. The scene made their interaction full of intensity.

The initial relationship between Weda and Bagas was quite intense, it was quite difficult to imagine pregnant women outside of marriage when their careers were good again. The first time that contemporary ritual and dance scene had a workshop before filming, "explained Ersya.

The film Kampung Jabang Mayit tells the story of Weda (Ersya Aurelia), a model who is pregnant outside of marriage. Then, she was invited by her boyfriend, Bagas (played by Bukie B. Mansyur) to visit her hometown and undergo a number of rituals that turned out to threaten Weda's life.

The film Kampung Jabang Mayit will be released in Indonesian cinemas starting July 24, 2025.
