Recommended 4 Beaches On The Island Of Sumatra That Are Suitable To Be Spot Surfing

JAKARTA - As an archipelagic country, Indonesia has many beaches that can be used as surfing spots or surfing with challenging waves. Many foreign tourists come to Indonesia to surf, one of which is to the island of Bali.

However, outside Bali, there are still many other beaches in Indonesia that can be used as surfing spots, such as beaches on the island of Sumatra below.

1. Matanurung Beach, Aceh

2. Sorake Beach, North Sumatra

The beach also often hosts world-class surfing events, such as the Nias World Surf League (WSL) which is held annually.

3. Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra

The Mentawai Islands in West Sumatra is one of the hidden paradises that has become a favorite of world surfers. There are many surfing spots in the Mentawai Islands, one of which is Sipora Island, which is known for high waves and there are 7 meters of wave tunnels.

Apart from Sipora Island, there is also Pulai Nyang-Nyang, Siberut Island, Sikakap Island, and Awera Island. These various surfing places in the Mentawai Islands are suitable for surfers from the middle to professional levels.

4. Tanjung Setia Beach, Lampung

Another surfing spot on the island of Sumatra is Tanjung Setia Beach, which is located in Lampung. This beach is also often a world surf event, one of which is the World Surf League Krui Pro which is held every year.

On Tanjung Setia Beach, there are long and consistent waves that reach 6 to 7 meters during the best season, namely from May to August.
