10 Educational And Exciting Tourism Destinations For Children In Jakarta During School Holidays

JAKARTA - The moment of school holidays in the middle of the year is a golden opportunity for families to spend time together while providing new, exciting experiences for children.

Jakarta, as a center of activity and culture, offers various tourist destinations that are not only entertaining, but also full of educational value. Welcoming the June 'July 2025 school holidays, various tourist attractions in the capital are ready to be an attractive option for the community without having to travel far out of town.

To support the #dijakartaja campaign during the holiday period, the Ministry of Tourism recommends a number of leading destinations that are expected to drive domestic tourism and revive the local economy.

"Every tourist spot in Jakarta has its own charm, especially for children who are on vacation. It is hoped that this can provide a different and pleasant experience," said Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, in a statement in Jakarta.

The following is a list of recommended tourist attractions:

1. Jakarta Aquarium & Safari Neo Soho Mall

This destination presents underwater adventures complete with various marine animals, reptiles, and land animals. It is an attractive choice for children to get to know the world of fauna more closely.

2. Planetarium Jakarta Taman Ismail Marzuki, Cikini

For sky and astronomy lovers, the Planetarium offers visual performances about the universe as well as education about celestial objects interactively.

3. Ragunan Wildlife Park

The largest zoo in Jakarta features various Indonesian native animals. There is also a center for the Schmutzer primate and a play area for children.

4. GBK City Forest Senayan

This green open space destination is suitable for exercising, picnicing, or playing while learning about the importance of protecting the environment.

5. Faunaland Ancol

Located in the Ancol area, this mini zoo offers a unique experience such as feeding animals to a safari boat, complete with conservation education.

6. Indonesian National Museum

In addition to exhibiting historical and cultural collections, this museum provides children's educational programs and 360-degree immersive video mapping performances in the ImersiveA space.

7. National Monument (Monas)

Children can learn Indonesian history visually through diorama at the bottom of Monas and enjoy the view of the city from the top of the monument.

8. Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII)

Now present with a new, more modern face, TMII offers a cultural platform from all provinces, suitable to learn about the diversity of the archipelago without having to leave the city.

9. Old Town Area West Jakarta

Full of historical value, this area allows children to visit museums such as the Wayang Museum, the Jakarta History Museum, and the Rupa & Ceramic Art Museum.

10. Mangrove Nature Tourism Park Angke Kapuk

Suitable for the introduction of natural ecosystems and the importance of mangrove forest conservation for children, as well as being a cool and quiet tourist spot.

As a form of support, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy also issued a Circular Letter of the Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia No: SE/3/HK.01.03/MP/2025. This circular urges the public, business actors, and local governments to ensure that tourism activities take place safely and comfortably during the holidays.

Made also reminded parents to pay attention to the safety of the transportation used, monitor the weather from the BMKG, and choose destinations that apply the principles of CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety, Environment Sustainability).

"Choose tourist attractions that are suitable for children's age, pay attention to supporting facilities such as toilets, rest areas, and security officers. Avoid locations that are too crowded for mutual comfort and safety," concluded Made.
