Atiqah Hasiholan Learns About Black Science For The Role Of Shamans In The Film Kampung Jabang Mayit

JAKARTA - Actress Atiqah Hasiholan is back on the big screen with the horror genre in her latest film by the Black Cat Pictures production house and the SPASI Moving Image, Jabang Mayit Village: The Death Ritual.

This time, he expressed his enthusiasm and challenges when offered to play an unusual character, namely an abortion shaman related to black magic and elements of immortality.

"So I have a lot of discussions with Mas Wisnu and on other things, there are also a lot of YouTube shows, about shamanism, yes, I learned a lot about black magic, dukuning, abortion and others and it turned out to be very interesting, so I learned a lot about it," said Atiqah Hasiholan in the Thamrin area, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, June 10.

According to Atiqah, this role offer immediately raised her spirits, especially since this is the third horror film in her career. He felt that the horror genre still provides a wide and challenging space for character exploration.

"So, at that time I was very excited (at that time offered), so at that time I was offered the first time, I'm frankly, this is my third film, horror film. First it was in the past, in the 2011s there was one more film last year and this is my third film," he continued.

Even though he has starred in horror films several times, Atiqah admits that she has not explored many approaches to acting in this genre in depth. He realized that horror films have their own techniques and nuances, both in terms of acting and conveying their emotions.

"So I haven't explored so many characters related to horror films, which means that in terms of many things that are treatment, we have to pay for the approach in horror films, there are many different things," he said.

In this latest project, Atiqah gets a big challenge because she has to play a shaman who carries out the practice of abortion, is involved in black magic, and is described as an imortal figure.

"Well, then this is my third (film), the third time I've been offered a horror film and here I'm asked to be a shaman, the shaman is an abortion too, the shaman is an abortion, black magic, imortal," he explained.

No wonder he called this role one of the most complex and challenging during his career in acting.

"So it's very complex, so this is a very challenging thing for me," concluded Atiqah.

Apart from Atiqah Hasiholan, the film Kampung Jabang Mayit: The Death Ritual will also star Ersya Aurelia, to Bukie B. Mansur. The film is planned to start showing in theaters on 24 July.
