Prepare UUHC, Kemenekraf Support DPR Initiative

The Ministry of Creative Economy (Kemenekraf) supports the initiative of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) which is preparing to revise the Copyright Law (UUHC) by committed to contributing to the discussion of the UUHC revision.

This effort is part of the spirit of the Ministry of Creative Economy in strengthening an inclusive, adaptive and sustainable creative economy ecosystem.

"We appreciate the efforts of the DPR RI in strengthening the Copyright Law in an increasingly dynamic era. Creative Economy will continue to grow if the governance of the creative industry is getting stronger, including how we adapt to technological developments," said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky in a statement received in Jakarta, Thursday.

Menekraf stated that until now his party has opened up to accommodate the aspirations of stakeholders in various sub-sectors of the creative economy.

Later, all these inputs will be used as material to perfect during the discussion of the UUHC script.

"I have instructed the ranks of ministries to ensure that various suggestions and inputs are considered as part of the discussion of this bill's script. Until now, the Ministry of Creative Economy does not yet have a preference to implement certain schemes. Our focus is on maintaining the spirit of public participants in drafting laws," said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky.

Furthermore, Teuku Riefky appreciated the Ministry of Law as the leading sector of the government which had involved the Ministry of Creative Economy in the initial discussion of preparations for the discussion of the UUHC revision.

As a ministry that oversees 17 sub-sectors of the creative economy, Teuku Riefky stated that he is ready to contribute to providing constructive input.

As stated in Law Number 24 of 2019, Creative Economy is a manifestation of the added value of intellectual property sourced from human creativity, which is based on cultural heritage, science, and or technology.
