Strict Warning, Menbud Fadli Zon Reminds The Risk Of Failure In Policy If Institutional Synergy Is Weak

JAKARTA Minister of Culture Fadli Zon gave a firm warning that without solid institutional synergy, all cultural promotion policies would fail to be implemented. He conveyed this at the Ministry of Culture's National Coordination Meeting, Tuesday (22/4), after the inauguration of 96 new officials.

"If the institution's design is wrong, the policy is not right on target, and the execution is weak, then the entire system will not work. This is a matter of working continuity, not just adjusting positions," said Fadli in front of echelon I and II officials, the head of the office, as well as all UPT leaders as quoted in a written statement received Wednesday, April 23.

Fadli emphasized three main foundations that must be strengthened immediately: getting the institution right (proper institutional design), getting the intervention right (policy according to public needs), and getting the power of intervention right (execution right and measurable). Without all three, the ministry's big mission is said to be limp.

He also reminded his staff not to get caught up in administrative routines, especially in the midst of the remaining budget time of only eight months. "We need a jump, not an ordinary report. Creativity is important, but coordination is more important," he said.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture, Bambang Wibawarta, emphasized that Indonesia's cultural power lies with the community. He called culture a strategic soft power in the context of defending the country. Therefore, synergy between institutions and between units is absolutely needed, especially to prevent commercialization that destroys cultural values.

A number of Director Generals also conveyed their respective work focus. Director General Ahmad Mahendra highlighted strengthening the art ecosystem through national talent management programs, including creative industry-based vocational training. Director General Endah Tjahjani explained cultural diplomacy strategies with the narrative Culture for Future, and the importance of curating Indonesian Cultural Houses and proposing cultural heritage to UNESCO.

On the other hand, Inspector General Fryda Lucyana emphasized that internal supervision is the key to institutional integrity. The channels for public complaints, prevention of corruption, and governance reform are priorities. Director General of Restu Gunawan highlighted strategic programs such as the preservation of underwater culture, local food movements, and facilitation of intellectual property rights.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Giring Ganesha, closed activities with collaborative invitations. He assessed that museums, cultural heritages, and cultural homes must be optimized as revenue centers that have a real impact on society.

This coordination meeting was held a day after Fadli Zon officially inaugurated 96 structural and functional officials at Plaza Insan Berprestasi, Kemendikbudristek Complex, Jakarta. All inaugurated officials are expected to synergize immediately in encouraging the performance and new direction of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia.
