Nafkah's Request Of Rp3 M Paula Verhoeven Rejected By Judge After Proven Cheating

JAKARTA - The divorce trial between Baim Wong and Paula Verhoeven continues to be in the public spotlight. In a follow-up hearing at the South Jakarta Religious Court, Wednesday, April 16, 2025, Public Relations of the Suryana Court revealed a number of facts about the trial, including demands from the respondent, Paula Verhoeven.

"She (Paula Verhoeven) demands that her child's custody still ask the respondent as her most important mother, and then the second she demands a middle living because during April 1 to 8 months apart she demands Rp100 million each month, which means a total of Rp800 million," said Suryana.

In addition, Paula also filed charges for mut'ah's livelihood and iddah's income which became the wife's right after being divorced.

"Then he demanded a mutah, as the wife who was divorced in the form of money amounting to Rp3 billion and then demanded a 3 month iddah, he demanded Rp200 per month, which means a total of Rp600 million," continued Suryana.

However, based on the facts revealed that cheating allegations were proven in the trial process, the panel of judges took different decisions from Paula's demands.

"Well, those are the facts in the trial that are proven because of that, then the respondent is declared a nusyuz iztri," he said.

Because of this status, some of the rights of the divorced wife were legally dismissed.

"So the rights as a wife who will be divorced earlier to get iddah income, the middle income is automatically declared not entitled," explained Suryana.

However, the panel of judges still determined the granting of mut'ah to Paula Verhoeven, but with the amount that had been adjusted.

"So it was determined that the defendant as the wife who was divorced by the applicant (Baim Wong) was in the form of money in the amount of Rp. 1 billion," he concluded.
