Tangled Live Action Production Postponed, After Snow White Failed?

JAKARTA - Disney reportedly mediated the production of the live action version of the Tangled film after the Snow White film failed during its release. Tangled is the latest title to be made after its 2010 animated version.

Tangled is planned to be directed by Michael Gracey and the script is written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. The story is based on the story of Fragunzel which was developed with the director and scriptwriter.

Kabar pembuatan Tangled ini sudah beredar sejak Desember 2024 lalu, namun belum ada pembaruan baik siapa yang akan memerankan para karakternya.

Film Tangled animation memperoleh 600 juta dolar AS ketika tayang di tahun 2010 hingga 2011. Film ini juga mendapat nominasi Oscar untuk Lagu Orisinal.

According to Variety, news of the delay circulated after the film Snow White only received 69 million US dollars for domestic broadcasts and 145 million for global broadcasts.

The failure of the Snow White film was also associated with two of its main stars, namely Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot. Zegler's remarks during the promotional period made the public furious, while others boycotted Gadot who supported Israel.

On the other hand, Disney is planning their two latest films, next May 23 and live-action Moana on July 10, 2026.

This is Disney's new effort to revive their previous intellectual property, by making advertisements at the Super Bowl and becoming the live-action trailer with the highest number of viewers for 24 hours being released.

As for Moana, Disney developed a successful IP Moana with its animated version in two films. The film Moana 2 which aired in November last year was also successful in theaters.
