4 Times Entangled In Drug Cases, Fariz RM Threatened With 20 Years In Prison

JAKARTA - Senior musician Fariz RM has been officially named a suspect in a narcotics abuse case. Together with another suspect with the initials ADK, Fariz now has to face a serious legal process.

"From ADK and FRM (Fariz RM) today, they have been named as suspects," said Nurma Dewi at the South Jakarta Police, Wednesday, February 19.

Fariz RM was charged with Article 114 paragraph 1 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 25 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

"So the article that is enforced is article 114 paragraph 1 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia no. 25 of 2009 on Narcotics," he continued.

With this article, he faces a non-light sentence, ranging from five years to two decades behind bars.

"The threat is a minimum sentence of 5 years in prison, a maximum of 20 years," explained Nurma.

Previously, the results of urine tests had shown that Fariz RM and ADK had tested positive for drugs.

"What is clear is that both urine checks are positive," he explained.

Even so, Fariz RM's condition was said to be in good condition and he was cooperative when asked for information.

"Now he is in good condition, again asked for information, answered clearly," he said.

The police plan to hold a press conference regarding the determination of the suspect Fariz RM in the near future. "(Releasing the suspect Fariz RM) tomorrow, after isya," he said.

It is known that this is the fourth time senior musician Fariz RM has been caught in a drug case. Previously he was also arrested on October 28, 2007 for possession of 1.5 roll of marijuana weighing 5 grams which was stored in a cigarette pack.

Then, on January 6, 2015, Fariz was again arrested at his residence in Bintaro, South Tangerang, for possession of heroin and crystal methamphetamine.

Fariz RM was arrested for the third time on August 24, 2018 by the North Jakarta Police in Pondok Aren, South Tangerang. From this arrest, the police confiscated methamphetamine suction equipment and two packages of drugs packaged in plastic clips.
