JAKARTA - Sad news came from actress Barbie Hsu. Shanchai's role in the Taiwan drama, Meteor Garden passed away on Monday, February 3 as confirmed by his brother through his agent.

"Our family went to Japan for a vacation and my beloved sister Barbie Hsu died of pneumonia and unfortunately left us," Dee Hsu said through his agent, quoted by Focus Taiwan on Monday, February 3.

"I am grateful to be his brother in this life and we spend time and care about each other. I will always be grateful and miss him," he said.

Although it has been a long time since his involvement in acting, Barbie Hsu is highly remembered and is one of the actresses who has moved the Taiwan entertainment industry to the global arena.

Barbie Hsu is the second of three children. He has an older brother named Dee Hsu who is also an actress and television star. However, his family is a jewelry store entrepreneur in the Taipei area.

He and Dee debuted in 1994 as a duo named SOS. Their hit song, Ten Minute Love was a success but they clashed with the agency so they were not allowed to release an album with the stage name. The two of them compactly changed their careers and became television stars.

In 2001, Barbie Hsu became the main character in the drama Meteor Garden which is an adaptation of the comic Hana Yori Dango. Thanks to his role, Barbie Hsu's name is known globally with F4 and is one of the best-selling adaptations.

After the drama, Barbie Hsu was met with Vic Chou through the drama Mars, Corner with Love, and Summer's Desire. They had a public relationship until 2008.

Outside of his career, Barbie Hsu was highlighted because of his relationship with a number of men. He was dating DJ Koo, a musician from South Korea but ended up because of the rules from the DJ agency.

In 2010, Barbie Hsu married businessman Wang Xiao Fei. From that marriage they were blessed with two children, namely Wang Hsi Yueh and Wang Hsi Lin. 11 years of marriage, Barbie Hsu and Wang decided to divorce amid the issue of an affair committed by Wang.

Three months after the divorce, Barbie Hsu was in a relationship with DJ Koo. They decided to get married on March 8, 2022.

In terms of acting, Barbie is no longer active in acting, but she is still starring in several advertisements and attending several television shows. The television show she last visited was We Are True Friends in 2019.
