Fan Protested, Chris Columbus Welcomes Harry Potter Adaptation Series

JAKARTA - Director Chris Columbus shared his opinion about Harry Potter being adapted into a television series. As the director of the first two Harry Potter films, he is also a producer for Prisoner of Azkaban, which is one of the Harry Potter films.

I think it's a spectrative idea because there are certain limitations when you make a film. Our film is two hours 40 minutes long and the second film is almost the same length," Chris Columbus quoted People as saying.

"The fact that they have free time in a few episodes for each book, I think it's fantastic," he said.

Through the serial adaptation, Columbus felt that his creator could add a vision that had not been conveyed in his film.

"You can get a lot of things in the series that we haven't worked on, all the scenes are amazing and we can't put it in the film," continued Chris Columbus.

"I can't wait to see what they're trying to do. I think it's amazing," he said.

In addition, Columbus also supports Harry Potter fans who hope Cillian Murphy can play the character Lord total in his series. This idea is also supported by actor Ralph Fiennes who is a character in the film version.

"Cillian is an amazing actor. I also support it," said Chris Columbus.

The Harry Potter television series is planned by HBO as a development so that this series will show a more in-depth story side than the film version.

The selection of cast has been announced since September 2024. The series is planned in several parts and adapts each book by JK Rowling.
