Cattle Karapan Competition, New Tourist Attractions In Sigi Regency

JAKARTA - Sigi Regency in Central Sulawesi continues to explore its tourism potential with a variety of unique and interesting cultural activities. One of the events that is now being used as an annual agenda is the cattle karapan competition.

This local tradition is not only a sporting event and public entertainment, but is also expected to be able to attract tourists to come and enjoy the uniqueness of Sigi culture. By making cattle as a tourist attraction, local governments are trying to introduce the wealth of local traditions while at the same time encouraging the economic growth of the community.

The Sigi Regency Tourism Office ensures that the cattle carapan competition will become an annual routine agenda. This activity involves local cattle lovers as a form of preserving local culture and entertainment.

Head of the Sigi Regency Tourism Office, Heru Murtanto, revealed that the implementation of this competition was in line with the direction of the Sigi Regent to make the event a permanent calendar for regional tourism.

"At the direction of the Regent, the Tourism Office is ready to hold a routine cattle quarantine competition in Sigi Regency," said Heru in Kalukubula, as quoted by ANTARA.

He added that the success of organizing this competition requires support from various parties so that the event runs smoothly and provides benefits for the community.

"This activity has officially become an annual agenda, and we will continue to coordinate with the sub-district and village governments regarding its implementation," he explained.

As a first step, the Tourism Office will form a special community that is a forum for cattle lovers in Sigi Regency. This community will play an important role in arranging the schedule for cattle quarantine competitions at the village and sub-district levels, so that all regions can participate without any schedule clashes.

"We have held a meeting to form representatives of the district-level cattle quarantine competition. Later, this community will also be tasked with ensuring that the cows competing are in good health and free from disease," explained Heru.

He emphasized the importance of the interval between competitions so that the cows have sufficient rest time, so that the welfare of the animals is maintained.

In addition to preserving tradition, the cattle karapan competition is also expected to be able to attract the attention of local and foreign tourists to visit Sigi Regency. With more and more tourists arriving, Heru is optimistic that this can encourage the economic strengthening of the local community.

"By making tourist attractions more attractive and crowded, we hope that this activity can have a positive impact on the community's economy," he said.

Sigi Regency also continues to optimize other existing tourism potentials, such as the Bora Hot Waters, Wayu Paragliding, and Lake Lindu. Local governments are committed to increasing tourist attraction in the area in order to create a memorable experience for visitors.
