JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) held the 2024 Indonesian Tourism Village Award Peak event (ADWI) as a form of appreciation and announcement of the winners of tourist villages from various categories.

Located at the Indonesian Theater Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Sunday (17/11/2024), Minister of Tourism (Menpar) Widiyanti Putri Wardhana expressed her commitment to continue the ADWI program.

"Tourism village is one of the spearheads of Indonesian tourism and will be one of the main priorities that we carry out while carrying out the mandate as Minister of Tourism," said Menpar Widiyanti, who was present wearing a navy colored kebaya with hair raised in Solo style.

Menpar Widiyanti added that tourist villages have become a strong grassroots program, support the tourism sector, and show the world that behind the natural beauty of Indonesia, there are rural communities that are warm and full of dedication to developing their regions to be globally competitive.

"We are proud that Jatiluwih Tourism Village in Bali and Wukirsari Tourism Village in Yogyakarta won Best Tourism Villages UN Tourism 2024. This is the first time that Indonesia has won achievements with two Best Tourism Villages at once in the same year," he said.

The ADWI 2024 program was attended by 6,016 tourist villages throughout Indonesia, which recorded a three-fold increase from the first time it was held in 2021. After going through the curation process by the jury, 50 of the Top 50 of ADWI 2024 Tourism Villages were obtained.

This year, ADWI 2024 features a new face, with the presence of the 'Wisata Village Governance Program' and 'Tourism Facilities Support' for the top 50 of ADWI 2024's best tourist villages. This is expected to encourage tourist villages to grow into independent, sustainable, and competitive destinations in the global arena.

To that end, the focus of ADWI 2024 is not limited to determining the champion of each classification and assessment category, but on concrete efforts to strengthen the foundations of tourist villages in a sustainable manner.

In addition, ADWI 2024 also involved the Top 50 of the Best Tourism Villages in a series of final activities, which included the 2024 ADWI Strategic Partner Forum, the 2024 ADWI Best Tourism Village 50 Displai, and the 2024 Indonesian Tourism Village Award Night (ADWI).
