JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia has again presented a prestigious annual program, the 2024 Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI). On Sunday, November 17, 2024, the performance of 50 of the Best Tourism Villages was presented by presenting creative products in the Car Free Day area of the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, Central Jakarta.

This year, of the 6,016 tourist villages that registered, the selection process was carried out in stages and involved 13 independent jury members. The initial stage filtered the village into 500 large, then 300 large, 100 large, until finally 50 of the Best Tourism Villages in 2024 were selected.

These villages are considered based on good tourism, institutional and human resources, resilience, digital, and amenities. After being declared qualified, a tourist village representing various cities/districts in Indonesia was invited to appear in the 2024 Indonesian Tourism Village Award Peak Week Display (ADWI) in Jakarta.

"These various potentials are an attraction that is not only proud, but also able to attract domestic and foreign tourists to visit the archipelago," said Deputy for Development of Destinations and Infrastructure at the Ministry of Tourism, Hariyanto, on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

The 50 Best Tourism Villages are also confirmed to have the support of the Ministry of Finance. Stimulus funds will be given for better village development in the future.

"We make sure that the 50 best-winning villages of ADWI 2024 will get additional stimulus village funds from the Ministry of Finance in 2024. We guarantee that it motivates the perpetrators in the village to develop creativity, develop work products, tourism as well," he added.

Meanwhile, this event is not just a product display, but also a discussion room on the strategic role of tourist villages in promoting destinations, products, and creative works at the national level. It also opens up great opportunities for tourist villages to expand networks, attract investors, and establish partnerships that support the development of tourist villages going forward.

The selected tourist village represents the diversity of the archipelago, with the distribution of display areas based on the names of the islands of Indonesia. Java Island is represented by 13 tourist villages, Sumatra Island by 12 tourist villages, Kalimantan Island by 7 tourist villages, and Sulawesi Island by 8 tourist villages.

There are also Maluku Islands represented by 3 tourist villages, Papua Island by 3 tourist villages, the Nusa Tenggara Islands represented by 3 tourist villages and Bali Island represented by 1 tourist village.
