JAKARTA - A number of students from the University of Indonesia (UI) created a special game to raise the potential for tourism in Cibuluh Bogor Batik Village, West Java.
The Cibuluh Batik Village is known as the first batik village in Bogor City and a center for batik cap production and writing with distinctive motifs, such as truntum flowers, talaus leaves, rain, and RAflesia flowers.
Each motif has its own philosophy that represents local wisdom and local cultural values. There visitors can explore nine batik galleries and find various other batik products such as bags, wallets, and clothes.
In promoting tourism there, UI students introduced the latest innovation in the form of an educational game entitled "Junk Pilah Sampah".
This game is a collaboration product designed by a team of lecturers and students from the Proced Game Xperience Laboratory (OX-Laboratory) under the Media Production Study Program, UI Vocational Education Program.
Director of the UI Padang Vocational Education Program, Wicaksono, in Depok, said that the game, which was specially designed to promote Cibuluh Batik Village in Bogor, is expected to increase public awareness of the importance of environmental love as well as introduce Cibuluh Batik Village as a sustainable tourist destination.
Launch activities that coincide with the Community Service Program (Pengmas) for Environmental Love Education. He stated, the game Junk Pilah' can be played on mobile devices and will be available on the Play Store starting October 2024.
"Through this game, it is hoped that it will be able to become an interactive learning medium for the wider community, especially those related to awareness of environmental love," said Padang, as quoted by Antara.
The game allows its players to learn how to sort waste correctly, according to existing categories, such as organic waste, inorganics, and hazardous waste (B3).

The Pengmas Program implemented by the Department of Social Humanities Applied Vocational UI is part of an effort to promote the potential of Cibuluh Batik Village as a cultural tourist destination.
Head of the UI Applied Humaniora Social Department, Dr Budiman Mahmud Mustofa, explained that this educational game is one of the results of a series of Penmas activities aimed at supporting the branding and promotion of this tourist village.
"Since we started the Pengmas program in Cibuluh Batik Village, we have formulated a number of exceptions for branding and promotion of Cibuluh Batik Village by installing the Sapta Pesona information board for tourism development, making profile videos, podcast videos, and producing educational games," he said.
This collaboration was welcomed by residents of Cibuluh Batik Village, who have been trying to promote local batik culture. Dina Ayu, one of the drivers of the Cibuluh Batik Village, said that education about the environment is very important and needs to be conveyed in an interesting way.
"Education about the environment is very important to do in a fun way like through a game, so that residents can be more aware of the importance of cleanliness and make the Cibuluh Batik Village clean and well maintained so that they are more comfortable for visitors," said Dina.
