JAKARTA - After 12 years, the film Pulau Hantu is ready to spread terror again! The remake of Hantu Island is ready to be released in theaters on October 10, 2024.

Hantu Island was first released in 2007. At that time, the film by Jose Purnomo became a concern because it featured a very scary ghost figure. The ghost in the film had a broken face with a wide open mouth. The ghost also appeared again in the second film Pulau Hantu in 2008 and his third film in 2012.

Remake Pulau Hantu was directed by Ferry Pei Irawan, along with writer Erwanto Alphadullah. Ferry Pei Irawan also revealed the difference between his version of the Mangap Ghost and his predecessor version.

"It's very different that the Mangap Ghost is now and before. The current version, the Mangap Ghost has a clear backstory and in story, the version of Hantu Island is now the story of giving contemplative content. It's not just a scary horror film," he said, Saturday, September 28.

Ferry Pei Irawan also chose actress Amanda Green to revive the iconic ghost.

"I see Amanda Green has a unique appearance and character, apart from her tall body. Even though she doesn't have an acting experience yet, I'm sure I can train her and Alhamdulillah Pak Amrit also agreed to choose Amanda Green to be an important character in Hantu Island," he explained.

Meanwhile, Amanda Green also admitted that she was very challenged to play the character named Mala.

"My challenge to play Mala's character is of course because this is the first film while Mala's character weighs with various kinds of emotions and sadness. Even though Mala is a ghost, it must also be humanized because Mala itself is full of stories and can be said to be the host of the story itself," said Amanda.

"I don't think Mala is a villain, because actually she just wants something that is her right but we as humans can't choose where we were born and with whom I think that Mala is said to be Villain is relative and dependent on the point of view," he continued.
