JAKARTA - New York Indonesia Fashion Week (NYIFW) 2024 again echoed during New York Fashion Week in September 2024. NYIFW was held for two days, September 6-7. This is the 16th fashion show in New York.

On the first day, September 6, NIFW was held at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in New York, featuring Angklung Anvaya and Returning Baliku.

"We present all the designers who come directly from Indonesia. There is also our guest of honor, Mrs. Puti Guntur Soekarno, as the founder of Returning Baliku," said NYIFW Founder and Producer Vanny Tosignant in a media statement, Tuesday, September 10.

The event on the second day on September 7 took place at our venue, this time at 128 East 28th Street, New York 10016. The event opened with the performance of the Garuda dance carrying the red and white Sangsaka flag, with the accompaniment of the angklung playing the song Tanah Airku. Then continued with the performance of the Bali Legong Dance.

"This event received a lot of praise from fashion observers, culturalists and art observers in New York. We also feature Yuyun George, an Indonesian saxophone player," recalls Vanny Toussignant.

As an opening, the designer dr Rosaline Rumaseuw appears for the first time. Then continued with the little Indonesian designer from Bandung, 15-year-old Michelle Liu.

"Our 3rd designer came directly from Belgium, Ziana Kaoutar Chaoui. Our 4th designer is Catherine Liu, a 10-year-old designer, who is none other than Michelle Liu's own younger brother. Continued with designers Joko SSP and Arista who brought elegant design," he said.

Vanny hopes that NIFW can be an option for young designers from regions throughout the archipelago. The designer Zuebarqa by Benz from Bandung is the closing by displaying a modern kebaya.

"All of our designers have their own characteristics that are very authentic with Indonesia through the cloth used, an assessor with a typical Nusantara color," explained Vanny.

Mrs. Puti Guntur Soekarno and invited guests from fashion industry were also present on the second day of the NIFW. "Our guests came from several places in America, such as from Washington DC, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, meaning there is a lot of potential that can be captured after the fashion show. We are very proud, because we can present not only fashion, but also Indonesian culture and culture among the prestigious New York Fashion Week event," he concluded.
