JAKARTA - The Seobok film produced by CJ Entertainment is the first South Korean film to take a simultaneous release, namely theatrically and streaming. This was originally done by the Warner Bros. production house for their film releases for this year.
Initially, this film was scheduled to open in theaters in December 2020 but CJ Entertainment postponed the screening due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
"With this step, we can provide many choices for audiences and co-exist with cinemas that are experiencing difficulties due to a lack of new film releases," said CJ Entertainment.
Apart from the cinema, the Tving streaming platform was chosen to be an OTT service that exclusively presents Seobok films. Tving is a streaming service under CJ ENM which is a popular streaming service in South Korea after Netflix and Wavve.
Directed by Lee Yong-joo, Seobok tells the story of Ki Hun (Gong Yoo), a former intelligence member who receives a mission to move Seo Bok (Park Bo gum) to a place. Seo Bok is the first human clone who keeps the secret of the power of eternal life.
The film Seobok will be released in Tving and theaters starting April 15th.
