JAKARTA - Who isn't amazed by Aghniny Haque? She has not had a career in acting for a decade, but her name always attracts the attention of the audience when she presents her acting projects.

This year, she returns with her latest horror film, Pemandi Jenazah. This marks the fifth horror film she has starred in so far. The actress, born March 8 1997, once emphasized that she would not play horror films after her fourth film.

Not denying it, the woman known as Aghni confirmed that she had spoken like that, but there was something that made her interested in joining this film.

“Offers (of horror films) keep coming, apart from that, when the offer is attractive, those who are called here are told. The script is good and the story is horror that I have never played. The story is unique. Finally I read it. After I read it, I think the script is a really good horror," said Aghniny Haque to VOI.

This film brought her together with Lele Laila, a popular script writer with a number of works. It is known that the two of them first met through the movie KKN Di Desa Penari. Aghni also does not hesitate to say Pemandi Jenazah as Lele's most mature work.

"Challenging is part of the character, I can also get new challenges, which are fresher, and I also learn something new as a corpse bather. There is a job that are not easy but noble," she continued.

Pemandi Jenazah is a film that tells the story of a child named Lela (Aghniny Haque) who is forced to become a mortician after her mother dies. Her mother lived as a mortician and now Lela will continue her mother's work. However, along with this work, Lela faces various terrors which she suspects are related to her mother's death.

“Even though she didn't want to be a mortician, she had to force herself. Inevitably, she finally feels how difficult it is to die and after the incident in the film, she continues to try to face what is in the Pemandi Jenazah film," said Aghni about her character.

Through the production of this film, Aghni learned something new, namely being a mortician, which is not a profession that is often discussed. She was assisted by a real mortician who had worked for 40 years and made her learn about the job.

“The workshop is a week long, from washing the corpse to how to make the shroud. Initially (the example) by using real human, one of our crew members. Until finally using a mannequin because it turned out that when using the crew, there was something unpleasant and maybe inviting. So we use a mannequin," she continued.

Talking about character, Aghniny Haque shared her experience in the world of acting. Only 8 years old, but Aghni is already involved in various different characters from her life. Aghniny, who is a former taekwondo athlete, feels that the worlds of acting and taekwondo are contrasts.

"Of course, each character faces different problems, especially since the mortician and I, who was previously athlete, are contrasting, so nothing is the same. In fact, I'm happy to get a character who isn't a tough girl or a bad ass," she said.

Selective. Aghniny Haque admits that she always looks at the script when considering a project. She continues to learn from how she chooses an acting project. This makes her challenged to choose characters that she never encounters in everyday life.

“Usually the contract comes first, then the script is just given the premise. In the past it was often like that, but now it's more like I want to read the script first and if I like it, then the contract is deal. Here I get that facility. The script was already finished and when I read it, I really like those who read the script without it being done properly. I keep repeating it because that's what the script likes. Very good," repeated Aghniny.

"Each character has its own color, its own problems, and each director also has his niche and I want to convey several things to Ms. Hadrah, so of course one character will be different from other characters," continued Aghniny.

Explore Character in Any Form

Aghniny Haque, the 26 year old actress, tries to deepen her character in any form. She revealed that she used to be very idealistic when choosing characters. Now she chooses projects based on stories that can attract her attention.

"In the beginning, I wanted to get some kind of role like a crazy girl, but now it's more like I just want to deepen the character. In my opinion, when we can deliver and make the audience believe in the character, that is a satisfaction for me," said Aghniny Haque.

She said her last two roles were not something close to her personality, including Pemandi Jenazah. The actress recalled the moment in 2015 where she found acting like an oasis in life. It is known that Aghniny Haque debuted as an actress in the film Wiro Sableng: Pendekar Kapak Maut Naga Geni 212 as Rara Murni in 2015.

“Because an offer came. It's not open casting like that, so because there was an offer, I just had nothing to lose, I just tried because I was finished as an athlete. Why not try something new and don't know what I want to do after becoming an athlete," said Aghni, who at that time was still focused on studying.

“It turns out (being an actress) is not that simple. There's a reading process, an action workshop process and that's what makes filming more fun and exciting, there's a lot you can learn more and the most exciting thing is, taking on different characters and learn it from the start," she said.

In the short distance, Aghniny Haque has starred in 6 horror films. She is not afraid to be seen so "typecast" because she feels there is always an opportunity to explore the story.

"I don't close down opportunities, so if there is a drama offer, I'm going for drama, horror, action, I want to explore it, I'm open to exploring acting," she stressed.

However, if she could make her wish come true, she would like to take on roles and stories with elements of martial arts.

"If given the opportunity, I would like to, because I like martial arts," concluded Aghniny Haque in the conversation that day.
