Indonesian Films From East Lift The Role Of Football As A Unitary Tool

JAKARTA - The production house of Alenia Pictures and Bhinneka Multi Media held a press conference for Indonesian films from the East at Epicentrum, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Saturday, December 9.

This film is based on the inspirational story of the Papuan men's and women's soccer team who both won gold medals at the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) in 2021.

"We know that football is a sport that is very attractive not only in Papua but throughout the world. Football is a unifying of the nation, we want to give a spirit of unity, give the best enthusiasm for Indonesia," said Nia Sihasale as producer at a press conference.

Indonesia from the East directly also involved several young Papuan footballers to play roles in films.

Meanwhile, Ari Sihasale as the producer and director also took part in the role of playing the character Eduard Ivakdalam who is known as one of the Papuan football legends.

I consulted a lot with coach Edu, had a lot of discussions. We hope the football scene isn't too much, but it's real not cans," said Ari Sihasale.

Meanwhile, Indonesia from the East wants to convey the spirit and togetherness of Indonesia through football. What the Papuan football team has achieved is seen as a struggle towards a hopeful future.

Marcellino Lefrandt said he was satisfied with his decision to be involved in this film. From the start, he had agreed to play because he wanted to see the ability of footballers from Papua firsthand

"Interesting and I personally want to participate, so that I can blend in the role played. Football, good skills, no need to question anymore," said Marcelino.

Indonesian films from the East will soon be shown in theaters. However, Alenia Pictures has not announced the exact date of the screening of the film.
