JAKARTA - Putri Delina's name cannot be separated from the name of her father, Sule, who is more senior, or Rizky Febian, her older brother who continues to carve out a career in music. Not wanting to lose, Putri also wants to make her own name in the entertainment industry.

After exploring the world of music, Putri Delina challenged herself to acting. She took the offer to play the main role in Adi Garin's latest film, Wakaf. Putri is believed to be the main character in her acting debut for a horror film.

"First of all, this is my first film, which is straight out of horror, because I've always liked horror movie and always told stories to Mama, 'Ma, I think I really want to play in a horror movie'," Putri Delina told VOI, starting the interview that day.

"Even though my hobby is singing. After I finished singing, there was an offer for a horror film so I really wanted it. And yes, I don't want to refuse because I want to try. Here I play as Delia," she continued.

The Wakaf movie tells the story of Delia (Putri Delina) who witnesses the cruel ambitions of her parents to fight over Amrullah's waqf land. The land has been used to build a prayer room.

To VOI, Putri revealed that this was not the first time a film offer had been given to her. But it was only this movie that made the woman born on April 29 act on the big screen.

"For movies, there are so many offers, but maybe I'm still not confident, so I just wait. But when this movie offer came, which is a horror for my first time, I immediately accepted it," she said.

"The offer is also even more challenging because after I hear what it is like, what will I do, wow. At first I wasn't confident whether I could do it or not. Firstly, I want to show that I have always said that I like horror films. Yes, from there, I was immediately fine, I wanted to and had to," she said firmly.

It was not easy for Sule's daughter to accept this offer. However, she reconsidered after passing the world of singing. She then felt she had to take on a challenge that she had never done before.

"Maybe because there is a process first, from singing, then acting, my language is like someone else's, and that's not my daily life. I can't be in front of the camera or in front of people. There is a process where I try singing first, because there are lots of people singing, that could be said to be more challenging. Thinking about it again, oh, I think I can already be in front of people or in front of the camera, because I can also write content, I should be able to do it," explained Putri Delina.

Interestingly, before entering the world of film, Putri made a short horror film entitled Ngaheot which was released in 2022. This shows Putri's interest in horror films, which she has liked since school.

“Actually, from junior high school, (when I had assignments) I chose to create horror drama. And I was the one who created the ghost characters, and that's what I really want. After that, because it was for a school exam, I invited Njan (Rizwan Fadillah) to try making a horror film," explained Putri.

"I mean, I keep learning, even if I don't become a ghost, I can still get what the atmosphere is like. From there, it seemed like I really wanted to do horror films. Own a production too. Actually, I just wanted to make it because Jan really likes acting," she said again.

As the main character, Putri Delina has mixed feelings when acting. Not only was it her first experience, she also felt afraid of disappointing the public if the results were poor. Going through the shooting process that has been going on since the pandemic has made Putri confident that she can be better than now.

“My posters are everywhere. Oh, from the start, I was really nervous, more like afraid of disappointing the people, it felt like I wasn't enough, but that made me even more enthusiastic. If I keep being pessimist like that, when can I make a progress," said the 22-year-old celebrity.

New and Exciting Experience

The most challenging experience from the first shoot of Putri Delina was when she had to climb a tree and this scene was seen in the teaser. When it was released last year, the teaser became a topic of conversation but Putri felt that all of this could be overcome.

“Actually, it's not more of a burden, because the first time I try it, you could say I was possessed, so it's like, wow, it's not easy. Because I wasn't used to it either, and after playing it, wow, it's difficult. Because it really drains a lot of energy. After the cut, I'm so tired. Because I who have to come out, should scream like that, and I'm bad at it," she continued.

Because she was so confident, Putri Delina did not take acting classes. She said that her first experience was also based on trying it herself and being asked by the director to show what she already had.

"It's really a lesson for me in the future because there's so much that I can take away. This is the first time I have filmed a horror film, so in the future it will be much better. Now the first time, I am still not very satisfied because it seems like I am lacking this or that, but from everything I have done, it's okay, in the future it should be much better," said Putri Delina.

With all these challenges, Putri admits that she doesn't give up on playing horror films. She is actually increasingly interested in starring in other horror films. Films are also considered to be a lesson, such as the meaning of waqf, which many young people may not yet know.

"I am so unfamiliar with the meaning of the word wakaf. Because especially not just me, but also many young people out there who don't know what wakaf/waqf is. What is it used for? Especially in this film, the genre is horror," said the singer of Menahan Rasa Sakit.

Putri Delina explained that she also did her involvement in this film herself without help from her father Sule or her brother Rizky Febian. Putri grew up in a family that always supported their children's development and exploration choices.

“From the first child, my old brother Iky (Rizky Febian), it used to be the same. My brother Iky also jumped in of his own accord, there was no pressure here. Same with me, same with Rizwan - as our own wishes. In fact, my dad is like 'it's up to you what you want to do'. Means this is your will, your responsibility, so there's no pressure," explained Putri.

Putri also does not deny that sentiments regarding herself, her father or her siblings will continue. Every time they have a new work, of course many people question the involvement of their family members.

"Maybe because from the start I thought that if I was ready to jump in, I would have to bear all the risks. Because it's like that, if I am ready, whatever it is, I have to accept it. From the start, I prepared myself for what I did, everyone would see - that's the term," said Putri Delina.

It feels like? Putri Delina took a deep breath remembering how every movement became a conversation. But again, she emphasized that this was a risk she had to take as a daughter of a celebrity and public figure.

“You could say it's quite heavy. Because the principle is that I must bear the risk, so I take it. Keep walking like that," she said smiling.

"Firstly, what is certain is that whether it is my father's name or Iky's, it will always be carried over. Yes, no matter what, they are my family, it goes back to everyone who responds, whether it's an easy chance or whatever," she said, stating that she did not invite Rizky Febian or Sule to work on her music.

Putri Delina also hopes that her acting will be well received and she said she will start entering the business world.

"For now, perhaps I will still focus on music and film. Actually, I've always wanted to do business, but I don't know what business I want to do. Maybe in the future I can do it together," she said closing the interview.
