Designing Clothes For Umi Pipik, Ivan Gunawan Learns Many New Things

JAKARTA - Ivan Gunawan is trusted to design Adiba Khanza's wedding dress, Umi Pipik's son who will marry footballer Egy Maulana Vikri. However, he was also asked to design clothes for Umi Pipik.

The 41-year-old presenter and designer admitted that she was asked by Umi Pipik herself, whom she had known for a long time. As a friend, Ivan Gunawan feels happy to be able to play a role in the sacred moment of Umi Pipik's child

"So, Umi is a friend of mine for a long time and Umi as a single mother wants to prepare and wants to give happiness to her daughter," said Ivan Gunawan to the media crew at Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta on Thursday, August 17.

Designing clothes for Umi Pipik and her son is called Ivan Gunawan as a unique experience. He admitted that he learned a lot to design Muslim clothes, especially Umi Pipik's style of dress wearing a veil.

"So, if I can help, why not. So, I also learned how to make a night dress with Umi's current condition wearing a veil," said Ivan Gunawan.

Tells about the experience of designing Muslim clothing, Ivan Gunawan mentions Desy Ratnasari's name as the beginning where he starts studying and ventures out of his comfort zone as a designer.

"I have clients who have various styles, so yes, I learned a lot. It's like making Muslim clothes, I learned from the first time Desy Ratnasari wears a hijab. So, maybe a few years ago Indonesian women had not used the hijab, at that time Desy Ratnasari had started wearing the hijab," said Ivan Gunawan.

The meeting with many clients who have a different style in dress is recognized by Ivan Gunawan as a way to continue to hone himself as a designer. Sometimes, in fact, he feels that he is learning something new from his client.

"I was taught how to make ciput and make ninja, in the past, no one used ninja. So yes, I like being in the circle where my client actually taught me to do something new," said Ivan Gunawan.
