IU Joins Bae Doona And Song Kang Ho In 'Broker'

JAKARTA - Singer IU was confirmed to have joined the production of the film Broker, directed by Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda.

Previously, in August 2020, the three player names: Bae Doona, Kang Dong Won, and Song Kang Ho were confirmed to star in this film.

Broker tells the story of life between cribs used for people who don't want to care for their babies.

Through her official statement last year, IU shared her hopes through the Broker film. “What can I express from cross language and cultural barriers? What does it mean to be a director? I hope to explore and find the answer to that question through this project".

Still from the same statement, Koreeda mentioned the process behind the selection of these actors and actresses. Previously, Bae Doona played the Korean film Air Doll, met Song Kang Ho at the Busan Film Festival, and met Kang Dong Won in Tokyo.

Broker became Koreeda's first Korean film after The Truth, his first English language film. Hirokazu Koreeda is known for the film Shoplifters which won the Palme d'Or at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.

IU has just released a new song entitled Celebrity. This song won the first Perfect All Kill in 2021. IU is also shooting for the film Dream with Park Seo Joon.

Zip Cinema becomes the production house and CJ ENM becomes the official distributor. After completing the script, the Broker filming process will take place in April.
