Kemenparekraf Bring 20 Local Creators To Hong Kong International Licensing Show

JAKARTA - Indonesia is rich in artists with worldwide work. For this reason, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) invited 20 local creators to exhibit their works at the Hong Kong International Licensing Show (HKILS) 2021.

Held from 11-15 January 2021, these creators introduce their work to potential buyers who come from various parts of the world. Intellectual property provision was also provided so that they could communicate with buyers.

"The basis of the creative industry relies heavily on the strength of intellectual property capitalization to get added value to the economy. When a pandemic situation like this, foreign tourists are much reduced so that the country's foreign exchange from the tourism sector is very disturbed, "said Nia Niscaya, Deputy for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy quoted from a press release today, January 13.

This activity is an opportunity to seize foreign exchange opportunities from the creative economy. Hong Kong as the largest market is the target of the government to market this intellectual property.

The 20 selected brands brought by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy were Tahilalats, Garudayana, Ga Clear Comics, Emak Matic, Manguni Squad, Gugug !, Ghosty's, Mintchan, Si Juki, Bumilangit, Dudu, Kareem & Khaleel, Damn! I Love Indonesia, Maple Haven, Fun Cican, Ghost Parade, Where is My Cat ?, Warganet Life, Meng, and Niion.

The 20 brands are well known in Indonesia and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy claims that there are licensors from abroad such as Japan, Thailand and Canada.

"This proves that Indonesian IP has great potential," said Grace Kusnadi from the Chairperson of the Indonesian Pavilion Contingent for HKILS 2021.

This is also a form of Kemenparekraf support for local artists who are ready to make a name for themselves in the international arena.
