Ernest Prakasa Wants To Fight For More Human Working Time For Perpetrators In The Indonesian Film Industry

JAKARTA - Ernest Prakasa has been quite poor across the country's film industry. Since 2013, the man who started his career as a comedian has experienced being an actor, director, and film producer.

Meira Anastasia's husband has recently been busy with his role as a film producer. Most recently, he will produce a film by director and scriptwriter Yandi Laurens entitled Falling Love As in Films.

As a producer, through the film, Ernest wants to fight for the style of film production that has not been implemented in Indonesia much. He wants shorter filming time per day.

He wants to participate in fixing the production of films that he has considered inappropriate. "The most important thing is working hours, that's the simplest. How do we make this work more humane," said Ernest Prakasa when met in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Friday, February 24, 2023.

Ernest realized that his work hours were not only felt by him alone, but also many actors in the film industry, especially the production team, felt tired while filming.

He hopes to apply a shorter working time in the process of filming Falling in Love Like in films.

"Some of us are fighting for 14 hours of work, which is a 12 hour international standard, but if we chase it for 12 hours it seems too utopian. Yes, we try 14 hours a day," said Ernest.

"How can we hope people sleep for 3 hours, then the next day we have to go back to the location to shoot in 16 hours. And this is going on for decades. Some even romanticize the film's work like that. Let's slowly fix everything, especially for the crew, if the players come quickly, it's too late, but if the crew goes through every day of the process," he continued.

Not only about working hours, as producers, Ernest also wants to fight for films with original stories. With a little poke, through his new film, Ernest hopes that there will be more room for films with original stories.

"If the producer has to be a sequel, it must be adaptation, it must be reborn. Yes, for me, the details that happen to be me and Yandi share the same anxiety. We both feel that the original story film needs space," he concluded.
