JAKARTA - The fourth sequel to the Bad Boys film franchise will be produced. Sony Pictures confirmed that this titleless sequel is in pre-production with Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Ms. Marvel, Rebel) which was again the director of the script by Chris Bremner.

They directed Bad Boys for Life in 2020, which reunites Will Smith and Lawrence as Miami-Dade detectives, Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, 25 years after the first Bad Boys were released. Shortly after the three sequels hit theaters, Sony announced that the fourth Bad Boys film is under development. Bad Boys for Life made $426.5 million worldwide box office as one of the last pre-pandemic era blockbusters.

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence announced their reunion by releasing a video on their social media titled IT'S ABOUT THAT TIME!, on Tuesday morning. In July, Martin Lawrence gave an update on the project in an interview for the cover of Ebony magazine, confirming that the film was still under development after Smith slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars, which led some to speculate about his fate. Quoted from ANTARA, the first Bad Boys made 141 million US dollars worldwide, while the 2003 Bad Boys II sequel reached 273 million US dollars and Bad Boys for Life managed to surpass the combined two previous entries.
