JAKARTA - Angga Dwimas Sasongko started in 2023 with the latest drama genre film by his work, Jalan Jalan yang Jauh, Jangan Lupa Pulang (JJJLP). This film is a sequel to his other film directed in 2020, Later We Tell About Today (NKCTHI).

Still talking about the lives of three brothers and sisters, Angkasa (Rio Dewanto), Aurora (Sheila Dara) and Awan (Rachel Amanda), Angga has a different approach to JJJLP in terms of storylines.

Unlike NKCTHI, the 38-year-old director presents a storylinear storyline on JJJLP, which makes the dramatic element in the film even more interesting.

Angga admitted that the nonlinear approach has been applied several times in his work on other films. "Since NKCTHI, I have tried a nonlinear story telling approach. So the timeline is random," he said during a press conference in the Setiabudi area, South Jakarta on Thursday, January 26.

This film channel can jump back two months, suddenly jump into the next two days. It is impossible for that person to understand the timeline. But since the film starts until it ends, the audience is invited to be involved with the character," he continued.

With London as the background for the story, Angga, who realizes his shortcomings, also has a special approach to the focus of the story he wants to present in JJJLP.

"I'm aware I'm not a Londoner and I've never lived there. I try to be the only person who only observes. What I caught through my camera was Aurora's world," he said.

To make his wish successful for the quality of the expected film, Angga assigned Sheila Dara to go to London first. "That's why those who go first there Aurora, to experience life in London. I prefer to follow the development of the character," he continued.

Reflecting on his behind-the-scenes career in filming so far, Angga said JJJLP could be the last drama genre film he has worked on in the next few years.

I actually feel old school, it's been almost 20 years as a director. Maybe because it started too early, I've been making films for 19 years, there's a desire to explore other things. Most dramas over the past 20 years," he said.

However, Angga has prepared another film which is another part of NKCTHI. "Actually, there is still one release, but it has been completed first. That's the closing of this series of three brothers and sisters, but it will be released later. The film was made before this film (JJJLP)," he concluded.
