Corona Virus Impacts On The K-pop Industry

JAKARTA - The corona virus terror has had an impact on the South Korean entertainment industry. As of Wednesday, February 5, it was confirmed that 18 people had contracted the deadly virus.

The South Korean government has begun to take a number of actions, one of which is canceling or postponing the new semester at 372 schools to avoid the corona virus.

From the entertainment industry, a number of K-pop singers and groups who were supposed to be promoting with new songs had to cancel their shows because the corona virus was known to be spreading through public places.

Super Junior who returned to promote with the song 2YA2YAO! must record 'Super Junior The Stage' behind closed doors on January 28, which can be accessed via the VLive streaming application. This group then donated 10 thousand masks to the Community Chest of Korea as the initial protection for children and adolescents from the corona virus.

Apart from Super Junior, there were originally groups GFRIEND, LOONA, and Pentagon who wanted to hold a showcase for fans in the context of a comeback. However, due to the worsening of the corona virus, the three groups decided to hold a showcase without an audience. However, their stage actions can still be watched through the VLive streaming application.

A number of groups and singers who were supposed to visit several countries also had to postpone for their safety. SM Entertainment as the agency decided to postpone Taeyeon and NCT Dream's concerts in Singapore and several other countries indefinitely. NCT Dream, the agency's youngest group is currently on an Asian tour titled NCT Dream: The Dream Show to several countries.

YG Entertainment also postponed a number of promotional schedules for its artists. WINNER, who will visit Singapore on February 8th, have to postpone their concerts, as well as the iKON fansign session, which will make a comeback with the album i DECIDE. Akdong Musician, the agency's subordinate duo also had to cancel their concert in Changwon city on February 7-8.

Launching YG Entertainment, the Sechskies group that will meet fans in order to promote the mini album All For You must cancel the event. BLACKPINK's Lisa, who was originally going to appear on the Idol Producer competition as a dance mentor, had to cancel her appearance.
