Full List Of Nominations For Asian Film Awards, There Are Two Indonesian Films Entered

JAKARTA - The awarding ceremony for the Asian Film Awards which will be held next March. The nomination was just announced Friday, January 6. Korean noir romance film, Decision to Leave by director Park Chan-wook collected the most nominations.

The film received a total of ten nominations, two of which belonged to the best film categories and best directors. In the best film category, Decition to Leave will compete with four other films, namely Drive My Car (Japan), Poet (Kazakhstan), PInnien Selvan: Part I (India), and When the Waves Are Gone (Philippines, France, Portugal, Denmark).

I believe the AFAA continues to offer a unique platform to unite all leading talents in the Asian film industry," said Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA) Chairman Wilfred Wong Ying-wai quoted from ANTARA.

Meanwhile, director Ryusuke Hamaguchi's Drive My Car film ranks second by accepting a total of eight nominations, including the categories of best films, best directors, and best actors.

According to the organizers, as many as 30 films from 22 regions and countries have been selected for 81 nominations to compete for 16 awards at the 16th Asian Film Awards. Director from China Zhang Yimou was appointed chairman of the jury.

Karya dari Indonesia juga berhasil mendapat nominasi dalam ajang tersebut, salah satunya yaitu Autobiography dengan Makbul Mubarak dinominasikan sebagai sutradara baru terbaik dan screenplay terbaik.

There is also the film Before, Now & Then which collects five nominations. Happy Salma and Laura Basuki were nominated for the best actress and supporting actress each. The film, directed by Kamila Andini, also received the nominations for the best cinematography category, the best production design, and the best costume design.

After being held at Busan, South Korea, the Asian Film Awards will be held again in Hong Kong this year. The award night was held on March 12, 2023, at the Hong Kong Joki Club Auditorium at the Hong Kong Palace Museum.
