Unelected Indian Representative, RRR List For Oscar 2023 General Nomination

JAKARTA - RRR fiction films are registered for several general categories at Oscar 2023. This is certainly a surprise to the public considering that this film does not become India's representative for the International Feature Film category.

It is known that the Indian Committee chose Chhello Show from Pan Nalin as India's representative in that category.

SS Rajamuli as the director made a statement through social media. They are grateful that RRR has become India's most successful film and has made history.

"We are honored with the success of RRR representing Indian cinema on the global stage by making achievements in the box office and passing language barriers," SS Rajamouli said in a statement on Thursday, October 6.

We are grateful for everyone who loves our film and encouraged us for a few months. You made this journey happen," he continued.

RRR is registered for 15 general categories, including Best Motion Picture (DV Danayya), Best Director (S Rajamuli), Best Actor (NT Rama Rao, Ram Charan), and others.

We signed up for The Academy of Oscars as a consideration for the general category. We hope that the RRR family will be the best and grateful from the heart for this opportunity," he said.

"This is to continue and win hearts and entertain audiences around the world," concluded Rajamouli.

In addition to the three categories, RRR also registered for all general categories including Best Supporting Actor (Ajay Devgn), Best Original Song (Naatu Naatu), Best Supporting Actress (Alia Bhatt), Best Original Screenplay (V. Vijayendra Prasad, SS Rajamouli, Sai Madhav Burra).

The film RRR tells the story of two Indian revolutionarys, Alluri Sitarama totaling (Ram Charan) and Koram Bheem (Ramad) who fought British Raj and Nizam from Hyderabad in the 1920s.

The RRR film can be legally watched via Netflix.
