JAKARTA - Director Upi announced that Sri Asih's film canceled its release on October 3 this week. He made this announcement through a personal statement that he uploaded on social media.

Thank you, I am not grateful for the support from my friends so far, which has never ended for the Sri Asih film. Your encouragement to me to give my best in all aspects of the Sri Asih film is my main motivation in working on it," Upi wrote today, Monday, October 3.

"It is this commitment to give my best that makes me today very, very difficult to inform that I will not be able to release Sri Asih to my friends on October 6," he said.

Upi explained, there are several things that make this film unable to be shown. Even though the release is on schedule, he is sure the results will not be perfect as expected.

"His imperfect results will be a betrayal for the crew and players who have given the best of themselves, and betrayal for the trust of friends who have given me," explained Upi.

"Sorry friends, this is very disappointing news. But friends will certainly be even more disappointed if you look at results that are not optimal for something that you have considered important so far," he added.

Upi decided to postpone the release of the film Sri Asih until November 17, 2022. This new date has been agreed upon by the teams, including producers. He will also continue Sri Asih's work.

"And in the not too distant future, I will be ready to present it to my friends in its best form for us to celebrate together," concluded Upi.

Sri Asih is the second film from the Bumilait universe and directed by Upi. The script was written by Upi and Joko Anwar who handled Gundala (2019).

The figure of Sri Asih is the first Indonesian adiwira made by Ria Kosasih. The comic was first released in 1954 and became one of the strongest superheroes in Bumilangit.

As the second film in Bumilitar, Sri Asih is confirmed to be released on November 17, 2022 in Indonesian cinemas.
