National Batik Day 2022 Celebration, There Is A Fashion Show, Exhibition, Until MURI Record

JAKARTA - The implementation of this year's National Batik Day is getting more and more lively with the performance of Batik Clothing on the longest catwalk which won the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI) award and batik exhibitions in a number of places.

At the opening ceremony which is also the culmination of this National Batik Day event, filled with Batik Street Fashion Show along Jalan Sudirman, to be precise starting from the Senayan Roundabout and ending in front of the FX Mall. This activity will also be recorded by MURI as the category for the Implementation of Batik Clothing with the Extended Catwalk at CFD for 600 meters," said the Chief Executive of the 2022 National Batik Day, Nini Djan Faridz, quoted from ANTARA, Monday, October 3.

In addition, 450 meters of batik cloth has been stretched on the 2nd floor of the lobby at the mall in the Sudirman area.

Gita Pratama, General Chair of the Indonesian Batik Foundation (YBI) - the organization that initiated this activity - added that YBI has been granted a license as a member of the UNESCO Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) along with the UNESCO program to participate in developing the vision and mission of cultural programs.

One of them, continued Gita, is to hold a campaign Sebarkan Kabar Ba(t)ik through community voices, batik lovers, and activities to promote batik clothing in Indonesia.

"YBI through a series of National Batik Day events intends to spread good news, spread new views to the public, that batik is not only about formal activities, but batik can and is comfortable to wear in various situations including daily activities," said Gita.

The series of National Batik Day events will continue until October 9, 2022. Mall visitors in the Sudirman area who want to add to their collection of batik their best batik can shop at the Batik Exhibition which is attended by 27 batik craftsmen.

Meanwhile, on the same date, from October 2 to October 9, 2022, at Plaza Indonesia, YBI also held a collection batik exhibition belonging to YBI.

The series of events for the 2022 National Batik Day will end with the Batik Exhibition which displays 80 collections of Batik Batik at the Textile Museum (Seni Museum), West Jakarta, starting October 12, 2022.

Batik Batik is a collection of batik originating from the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The motif of Batik Batik at a glance resembles weaving, with one dominant color of brown, which means simplicity and honesty of the Javanese people.

Batik Batik's uniqueness is the only batik motik to write with a historical story and a different way of batik from other batik.

The chairman of the Dini Rahayu Batik parade committee, in Temanggung, Sunday, said the batik parade was the culmination of the National Batik Day series in Temanggung Regency.

"This activity aims to show the wider community that Temanggung has batik, so this activity is held on the side of the road," he said.

He conveyed that Temanggung batik can be used by all people from various ages, professions and can also be worn in various events.

Dini said there were 60 models featuring batik works from craftsmen in Temanggung Regency combined with various accessories.

"The fulfillment of these models is from various professions from Genre sisters or Planning Generation, Children's Forum, and United Women's Darma as well as leaders in Temanggung Regency who have a broad influence on disseminating batik in Temanggung," he said.

He hopes that in the future batik will be increasingly accepted by all circles, more and more Temanggung people who use batik by Temanggung craftsmen.

"We also hope that there will be synergies between the government, the private sector and the community and craftsmen to promote the Temanggung batik together," he said.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Muslim Entrepreneurs Association (IPEMI) Japan commemorated National Batik Day on October 2, 2022 by holding a fashion show at Yamashita Park, Yokohama, Sunday.

Chairman of the Japanese IPEMI Sari Okano when met in Yokohama, Sunday, said the activity was not only a gathering event for fellow Indonesian members and citizens (WNI) in Japan, but also to introduce batik to the people in the Land of Sakura.

"The goal is for us to introduce Indonesian culture to Japanese people and also they can know about batik," he said.

Sari explained that batik varies, ranging from writing batik to printed batik, and various regions in Indonesia have their own uniqueness, both motifs and colors.

"There are all kinds of things, yes, batik, so you can know about batik," he said.

The participants wearing batik clothes and accessories lined up and toured the Yamashita Park while showing off their respective clothes.

The typical Indonesian cloth seemed to attract the attention of visitors to Taman Yamashita, including Japanese citizens who not only witnessed but even participated in the activity.
