JAKARTA - The term self-healing or self-healing which is often translated by the public as recreational and holiday activities. In fact, according to Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, A. Kasandravati Putranto invites the public to be able to understand the real meaning.

Not a few people think that self-healing means traveling to expensive places or just traveling that drains finances. In fact, not everyone can be cured in this way," said the woman who is also Public Relations of the Indonesian Clinical Psychologist Association (IPK) quoted from ANTARA, Tuesday, September 27.

He said the term self healing, which is popular among young people today, is often followed by fulfilling self-care needs, but it can also contain the risk of getting more and more stressed and feeling the burden that is increasing.

According to him, the phenomenon of using the term healing which is increasingly widespread can be because people are more aware of mental health issues, but others also contain the risk of self-diagnosing or self-diagnosis.

"People become easily carried away by self-diagnosising, by assessing themselves to experience psychological disorders, ranging from burn out, fatigue, trauma, depression, and others, so that it requires psychological treatment, especially 'healing' which is widely translated with recreational and holiday activities," said Kasandra.

Basically, said Kasandra, self-healing is a healing process that is carried out independently from mental, trauma, or mental wounds that are too tired.

"Psychologically, those who need self-healing are those who have just experienced an emotional incident or condition that is emotionally challenging or may have health problems, both physically and mentally," he said.

However, Kasandra continued, self-healing or self-healing is also a method that can be done in good condition whether it is sick or when it is healthy.

He said that basically all individuals have challenges to face. Some may have emotional challenges, others have physical challenges, and some of the people have both.

Fortunately, humans actually have a lot of strength to make positive changes to their well-being. One can change the way of thinking and how to do things in order to create an "improvement" effort and recover from the difficulties experienced, said Kasandra.

Citing Tchiki Davis from the Berkeley Well-Being Institute, Kasandra mentioned a number of ways of self-healing that can be done include having compassion for yourself (knowing self-restrictions), having enough sleep, breathing, meditation, listening to soothing music, creating daily journals, practicing self-affirmation, eating healthy foods and staying away from unhealthy foods, drinking herbal tea, and exercising well.
