Mike Tyson's Series Is Strongly Protested, Trevante Rhodes Is Not Afraid Of Mike Tyson's Anger

JAKARTA - Drama Mike will air in the United States on August 25. The series, which airs on Hulu, recreates moments from the controversial life of boxing fighter Mike Tyson.

Mike's series depicts Tyson being bullied as a child, a teenage life where he is in and out of prison after joining a Brooklyn street gang and starting boxing.

While the eight-part series shows how Tyson acts in the ring in famous fights, the story also focuses on his turbulent personal life.

An episode focuses on Desiree Washington, the beauty pageant contestant who accused Tyson of rape in 1991. The boxer was convicted the following year and jailed for three years.

The episode recounts the incident of rape in an Indianapolis hotel room, and the trial from Washington's point of view and narrative.

Despite raising allegations of domestic violence, the series also depicts the violence Tyson endured as a child, the loss of his mother to cancer, drug addiction problems and the efforts of certain characters to take advantage of Tyson's success in the ring.

Unfortunately, the screening of this series received strong protests from Mike Tyson. Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson has accused television dramas of stealing his life story through Mike's drama.

Tyson was angry that his life story was serialized without confirmation and payment. "Hulu is a streaming version of the slave masters. They stole my story and didn't pay me," Tyson wrote on Instagram.

"I don't support their story of my life. It's not 1822. It's 2022. They stole my life story and didn't pay me."

Trevante Rhodes, who plays Tyson in the series Mike, claimed to get the best feeling. "It's the best feeling when you can at least get away from yourself as far as possible," he was quoted as saying by AFP via ANTARA, Tuesday, August 9.

When asked if he was worried about angering Tyson, who is known for biting Evander Holyfield's ear in 1997, Rhodes simply replied: "No."
