JAKARTA - Singer Sherina will participate in Studio Ghibli's latest animated film, Earwig and the Witch. This announcement was shared by Sherina today, Friday, November 13.

Earwig and the Witch is an animated film by director Goro Miyazaki and written by Hayao Miyazaki.

The story is based on a book of the same name by Diane Wynne Jones and is the second book that the story has adapted after Howl's Moving Castle.

Earwig and the Witch tells the story of a child named Earwig who lives in an orphanage since childhood. One day a woman named Bella Yaga adopted him.

However Bella Yaga is a witch and Earwig must find a way to survive Bella Yaga.

Different from other Studio Ghibli films, Earwig and the Witch will be available in 3D CG format. Initially, this film was scheduled to be shown at the Cannes Film Festival but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they chose to broadcast it through the NHK television channel.

Earwig and the Witch will open on NHK on December 30, 2020 at 19.30 JPT.
