JAKARTA - The film Dead Reckoning Part One has finally released its first video footage. Dead Reckoning is the seventh installment in the spy thriller series, starring Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, a special agent from the Impossible Missions Force (IMF).
The trailer shows the return of several of the Mission: Impossible cast, including Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Rebecca Ferguson, and Vanessa Kirby.
Additionally, the trailer shows the return of Henry Czerny, who appeared in the 1996 original Mission Impossible as IMF director Eugene Kittridge. The footage shows a tense encounter between him and Cruise.
"Your days of fighting for the so-called 'Greater Good' are over," Czerny told Cruise in the trailer.
"This is our chance to control the truth. The concept of right and wrong, for all people for centuries to come. You are fighting to save an ideal that doesn't exist. It never happened. You have to choose."
While the trailer doesn't reveal much about the plot, it does give a first look at some of the new actors in the franchise, including Hayley Atwell as the new character Grace, and Esai Morales as the film's main villain.
Several sets of action pieces are also featured such as sniper battles in desert storms, fights in nightclubs, and chases on moving trains.

The trailer closes with a shot of Tom Cruise, who is best known for performing stunts on his own without the aid of a stunt double in the franchise, riding a motorcycle off a cliff and parachuting.
Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One is written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who previously directed Rogue Nation (2015) and Fallout (2018).
Part One will be followed by Dead Reckoning: Part Two in 2024, which is expected to be Cruise's final appearance as Ethan Hunt. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will hit theaters on July 14, 2023.
