Only 6 Days Show In Cinemas, KKN Film In Dancing Village Has Been Watched By 2 Million Viewers

JAKARTA - The production house MD Pictures noted that the KKN film in Penari Village managed to reach two million viewers after six days of showing in Indonesian cinemas and is still growing.

MD Pictures CEO Manoj Punjabi said he was very grateful for this achievement. He hopes that the Indonesian people will support the production of the nation's children so that they can succeed in their own country.

"I thank the people for defending Indonesian films, don't give up and please don't be pirated, this is the pride of Indonesia. Thank you for the support," said Manoj in an official statement, quoted from Antara, Sunday, May 8.

According to the company, the film, directed by Awi Suryadi, was able to provide resistance to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film that was running at the same time, namely Doctor Strange: In Multivers of Madness.

In several areas of Cinepolis cinema, such as Prabumulih, South Sumatra, and Ponorogo, East Java, it is known that KKN in Penari Village is superior in the number of viewers and tickets have sold out earlier than Doctor Strange 2.

In addition, in Sidoarjo, East Java, the same condition also occurred at the time of the May 6 broadcast. KKN tickets at Desa Penari sold more than Doctor Strange 2.

Although buying Doctor Strange 2 tickets still dominates in several big cities, this is the first time that local films have been able to match Hollywood films of Marvel's class, according to MD Pictures.

The achievement of "KKN in the Dancing Village" should be appreciated because it marks the revival of Indonesian films after being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years, the company said.

According to MD Pictures, the revival of the film industry will begin to appear at the end of 2021, marked by the film Makmum 2 which reaches 1 million viewers. Then followed by the film Kau Kira Kau Home which was watched by more than 2 million viewers.
