JAKARTA - Last week, Wednesday, September 23, we followed Arvy Kheren Laurence 'ngurir'. Arvy is a bicycle courier from Westbike Messenger Service, a company that is pioneering the modern bicycle expedition business model in the capital.

Our journey started from Arvy's rented house in the Senopati area, South Jakarta. We toured Jakarta, starting from Cipete, Kemang, Senopati, to Blok M and Antasari.

1. Optimized the pace of Liberty

Arvy pumps up her gray Liberty bike. Ensuring the right wind pressure is a mandatory ritual every morning to ensure optimal and efficient cycling. One last year, Arvy was supported by Liberty. The various achievements that Arvy got in a number of critical racing events attracted the Malaysian brand to establish an annual partnership with Arvy.

2. Congestion and speed

Arvy clears the traffic jam around Wolter Mongonsidi Street. He's very fast. The fixed gear bike is tightened without slowing down. Referring to the speed meter, the average speed of 40 kilometers continued as long as we crossed Senopati, Blok S Field, until we turned towards Mampang.

On several occasions, Arvy often hung his speed on other vehicles he encountered on the road. Occasionally Arvy also performs skid techniques - slip tires - to outsmart sudden braking. Arvy is really good at controlling his Liberty riding.

3. Courier, courier!

Ecosystem-wise, bicycle couriers have strong bonds between one another. The bonds in their circle develop other bonds around the ecosystem. Like the package of coffee beans that we will deliver to Antasari. The sender, Gayuh, is a barista who also sends this package of coffee beans to his colleague, Roy, owner of the House of Pista bicycle repair shop, Jakarta.

4. Converge

Arvy is so immersed in his bicycle. For Arvy, a career as a bicycle courier took him to explore bicycle culture more deeply. Indeed, before becoming a bicycle courier, Arvy had already drifted into the fixed gear trend around 2011-2012. However, from the 'ngurir' career, Arvy reached a further stage.

Arvy not only succeeded in fulfilling desires. Together with bicycles, Arvy has also been successful in racing in the world of racing. Arvy detailed a number of championships he has won: HolyCrit in Singapore, Selangor Criterium in Malaysia, to the Saigon Criterium in Vietnam.
