Supporting Ukraine Peace, Addie MS Sings Coconut Island Seduction Song In Russian

JAKARTA - Musician Addie MS together with the Twittle Orhestra and Chorus visited the Russian Embassy building, Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Setiabudi, South Jakarta, Wednesday, March 30. The aim is to convey a message of peace over the events of the war in the European state of Ukraine with Russia.

"The point is we don't want to talk about politics, we don't want to convey partiality, we are neutral, we only care about peace. Whoever is wrong is right, wins, loses if the war is not stopped, it will continue to be a big war," Addie told reporters.

Addie, who took part in the peace action initiated by Goenawan Mohamad, read the declaration and gave a flower to the Russian Embassy. "A single flower is a sign of a peace-loving attitude," he said.

Addie MS also had time to sing a song entitled "Rayuan Pulau Kelapa". However, the song composed by Ismail Marzuki was sung by Addie in Russian.

"We know that our first President, Soekarno, was friendly with the President of Russia. The song Seduction of Coconut Island is very popular in Russia until now," he said.

"So we don't want to get into the substance of the political debate. We come with flowers and songs to remind the beauty of peace," added Addie MS.
