JAKARTA - Relatives of the Sultanate of Ternate, North Maluku (Malut) revealed the origin of the last name Dorce Gamalama. The nephew of the 48th Sultan of Ternate, Ully Munawwar, said that the name Gamalama was given to Dorce by the 48th Sultan of Ternate, Mudaffar Sjah, as a symbol of appreciation for Dorce's close relationship with the people of Ternate.

Gamalama, said Ully, was taken from the name of a mountain in the city of Ternate. "I know Mother Dorce Gamalama very well, because every event held by the Sultanate of Ternate, Mother Dorce is always present and actively participates," said Ully, quoted from ANTARA, Thursday, February 17.

According to him, every event in the Sultanate of Ternate such as the reading of Maulid, the tradition of reading the kie prayer usually applies to the people of North Maluku, Dorce is always present. During his lifetime, Dorce was known to greatly appreciate and admire traditions, customs, especially the Sultanate of Ternate.

Ully also revealed that because of his close relationship with Ternate, Dorce adopted his fourth child, Abu Bakar Ramadani, from the Falajawa Dua area of Ternate City.
