Upin And Ipin's Graves Are Viral On Social Media, Netizens' Speculations Are Far From What The Author Expected

JAKARTA - Netizens are excited about the appearance of a TikTok video showing a photo of a headstone with the words Upin and Ipin going viral on social media. The two tombstones read Upin who died on August 6, 1995 and Ipin on April 2, 1996.

In @ABI_ALONK_3110's TikTok upload, there are two blue tombs in a cemetery that reads Ipin and Upin. The owner of the account said he got the video of the tomb from a friend who lives in Malaysia.

"Pantes never grow up. It turns out that the story is based on Opah's imagination 10 years ago," he wrote.

"Sorry, guys, it's so crowded, this video is easy to get from a friend who is also a Malaysian. He said, this is based on a story from a grandmother there that was revealed in animation," he continued.

Because it is popular in Indonesia, netizens commented on the video. The video was re-uploaded by a gossip account showing a similar house in the animation. The appearance of Upin Ipin's house is very similar to the animation. Warganet provides an explanation in the Instagram comment column @Insta.nyinyir.

Quoted from various sources, the animation of Upin Ipin was first created by Burhanuddin Radzi and Ainon Ariff in 2007 ago. This cartoon was originally created with the aim of welcoming Ramadan.

This cartoon tells the story of two twins, Upin and Ipin, with their fierce sister, Kak Ros, who lives with their grandmother. It was also told that Upin and Ipin's parents and Kak Ros had died but the cause was not explained.

Burhanuddin Rafzi and Ainon Ariff, once said that the animation was actually made to welcome the month of Ramadan. Ainon himself not only played a role in writing the story of Upin and Ipin, he also provided the voice of the character Opah.
