Kensington Palace Unveils 3 New Portraits Of Kate Middleton

JAKARTA - To mark Kate Middleton's birthday on January 9, Kensington Palace has released three new royal portraits.

Quoted by Antara from People, Sunday, these three photos were taken in November at Kew Gardens London by photographer Paolo Roversi. Middelton was deemed worthy of being a potential queen.

In the first photo, the Duchess of Cambridge is shown with a black-and-white concept with a vintage feel in an elegant chiffon dress.

This side-view pose features Princess Diana's diamond and pearl earrings. Her iconic sapphire engagement ring, which also belonged to her late mother-in-law, was worn.

The second photo shows a more glamorous Kate in a red satin one-shoulder dress with dramatic sleeves and pockets. She completed the look with diamond earrings from the Queen Elizabeth collection.

The third photo shows Kate smiling in another one-shoulder dress and her hair flowing down to her shoulders.

The portraits will become a permanent collection at the National Portrait Gallery, where Kate is a supporter.

As the National Portrait Gallery reopens in 2023, the photos will be part of the Coming Home project, a national initiative that shows portraits of famous people sent to places with close ties to them.

The new photos of the Duchess of Cambridge will be displayed during 2022 in three places that have special meaning for Kate: Berkshire, St. Andrews and Anglesey.

Kate grew up in Bucklebury, Berkshire, and often returns to spend time with her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, who still live in the sleepy village.

St. Andrews was an important place for Kate and Prince William when they met as freshmen at the University of St. Andrews. Andrews in 2002.

Then Anglesey was where the couple lived after their royal wedding in 2011. William and Kate rented a secluded cabin in Anglesey, Wales, as William trained nearby for the Royal Air Force.

They moved to Kensington Palace with Prince George in 2013. On the 2013 Anglesey Show, William said, "This island has been our first home together, and will always be a very special place for both of us."

Kate is usually the one behind the camera and snaps a photo of herself with Prince William's three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The royal couple recently shared a new photo of the family on their annual Christmas card.

The mother-of-three celebrated her birthday in private amid the ongoing surge in COVID-19 cases across the UK. Last year, she celebrated her 39th birthday with a tea party hosted by her husband and children at their country home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk.

Recently, Kate hosted her first ever Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey in recognition of the outstanding work of individuals and organizations across the UK who have supported their communities through the COVID-19 pandemic.
